Evert Van de Poll has written an excellent article for us on demographic trends, immigration and abortion. How are these three issues connected you may ask? For many decades, the birth rate of European countries has been under the level needed to maintain our population. This means that our industries and public services need immigrants in order to survive. Although uncomfortable, this seems logical. But then Evert brings in another factor: the underlying cause is that we have been aborting too many future Europeans. If there was no or little abortion, then our birth rate would be healthy and our businesses and hospitals would not need to recruit valuable staff from other continents! Please read and pray with us. Evert Van de Poll (1952) is from the Netherlands but has lived and ministered mostly in France. Professor of religious studies and missiology at the Evangelical Theological Faculty in Leuven (B), he also lectures at other faculties and in conferences. His publications include Christian Faith and the Making of Europe, Yesterday and Today (Nuremberg, VTR, 2021). #174-2024 Friday, June 21, 2024
